With Ville on the “track”, Lahti presents the edged sides of the southern part as a district of railway yards, graffiti artwork and idyllic old buildings. Lahti – Finland ‘s Chicago has by no means gained a reputation for fighting in Kuja, but for slaughterhouses, of which there were several in Lahti at the beginning of the 20th century, as in Chicago. When there was a lot of violence and manslaughter in Chicago, fame began to be associated with Lahti as well. From the train station you can directly follow the new walkway, which goes right next to the track and in the vicinity of the Mytäjäinen depot area there is an old locomotive that you can admire and continue the route adventuring along the track to Lahti harbor or follow the guided route through Mytäjäinen beach along the walkways. The bay is internationally known as a sports city and along the route you can admire the sports center and the ski jumps.

The old track ran along Teivaanranta to Lahti Harbor, from where the living room of Lahti residents has grown over the years. Cafés, terraces and restaurants are concentrated near the beach next to the Sibelius House, and the building, completed in 2000 in connection with an old factory building, thus combines wooden architecture with old Lahti industrial history. The combination of new and old construction crystallizes Lahti’s history. The view of Lake Vesijärvi from the building is worth the experience.

Along the route:
