When you want to spend a nice day in Helsinki or introduce the best parts of the city to your visiting friend, click on the ready-made 11km route and spend a memorable day walking, cycling or driving!

The delightful route goes from Helsinki Rautatientori, Helsinki Central Station for breakfast to the Ekberg cafe, from where the journey continues through the city’s interesting shopping destinations (such as Fasetti Vintage-Design furniture store, Stockmann department store, Forum Shopping Center) through the Esplanadi park via Senaatintori, Senate Square and the historically significant Helsinki Cathedral to the lively market square.

From in front of the President’s Castle, the scenery of the Allas Sea Pool – sea spa, we continue through the beautiful waterfront streets of Helsinki to the famous Old Market Hall and past the Silja Line cruisers to Kaivopuisto and Hernesaari, surrounded by the impressive buildings of Ullanlinna, where you can enjoy lunch at Sauna Restaurant Löyly in a unique setting. After lunch in Kaivopuisto, you can stop by the popular Design Museum and continue your journey shopping through the trendy Punavuori district to Hietalahti beach or Boulevard for dinner.

The route starts from Helsinki Central Railway Station, the railway was built in Helsinki in the 1860s. The granite station building, designed by architect Eliel Saarinen at the beginning of the 20th century, is known for its bell tower and sculptor Emil Wikström’s Lantern Bearers statues. All trains depart from the railway station and Helsinki’s largest Metro station is located below the station.

Route information:

1. Breakfast is enjoyed in the oldest Ekberg café in Helsinki, founded in 1852. Breakfast buffet combined with table service creates a luxurious atmosphere in a beautiful milieu on Helsinki Boulevard. Go to Egberg’s website here.

First-class culinary experiences, authentic craftsmanship and the rustle of history…

2. After breakfast, the trip continues exploring Helsinki’s boutiques and shops (e.g. Fasetti – Vintage&Design furniture store, Stockmann department store and Forum shopping center) all the way through the city center to Helsinki’s most famous landmark, the Cathedral, which is part of the Empire center built in 1820-1850. From the cathedral, the route leads to Helsinki’s Kauppatori by the water.

4. You can have a Finnish sauna and swimming experience in the center’s Allas Sea Pool or in the quiet Sauna Restaurant Löyly with lunch.

Experience an authentic Finnish sauna and swimming moment in wonderful scenery in the middle of the city!

Allas Sea Pool is a Helsinki sea spa and wellness oasis in front of the President’s Castle.
The spa creates a different experience for each visitor – for one, a unique start to the day, for another, an atmospheric moment of swimming in the fresh air accompanied by candlelight and music, for the third, a meeting place in a cozy cafe.

Located in Hernesaari, Löyly’s restaurant, sauna and terraces are open every day! Restaurant Löyly offers wonderful experiences, delicious food and warm moments to city dwellers and tourists from home and abroad. Sunny days can be enjoyed on the wonderful terrace or by the restaurant with a view all year round, and the saunas are hot every day.

5. After lunch, the route goes through the beautiful Eira district to the Design Museum, which is an internationally renowned, national special museum of Finnish design. The Design Museum researches, collects, stores, documents and presents design in Finland and in international touring exhibitions.

6. After visiting the museum, the trendy shopping and restaurant streets of Punavuori take you to Hietalahti beach, e.g. Hampton Bay Restaurant, where you can enjoy dinner outside for a long time in autumn and winter, warmed by the fireplaces on the table. If you like seafood, nearby Boulevard Bar & Seafood at Bulevardi 6. serves enlightening, new taste experiences!

Along the route you can find historic, significant buildings and companies with the best local service. Along the route, you can also easily visit other attractions, e.g. the House of Parliament on Mannerheimintie.
