Winged by event nights, in eye-popping Saimaa landscapes.

Á la carte & event restaurant Nuotta Imatra is located in Imatra’s Passenger Port just “below” Imatra’s Spa on the shore of Saimaa. From the restaurant terrace of Imatra Kylpylä, Restaurant Nuotta and the cruise ships can be easily reached by stairs leading to the shore, or alternatively by the road about 300 meters from the main door. From Holiday Club Saimaa to Nuottaa, a beautiful 4 km long outdoor trail leads through golf course, beach and beach bar landscapes. From the center of Imatrankoski to Nuotta is four kilometers, or a good 10-minute bus/taxi ride, and from the center of Lappeenranta to Nuotta is only about a 25-minute drive.

Restaurant

The cornerstone of Nuota’s concept is a Slavic-Scandinavian fish-oriented á la carte menu – with a light marine touch. Contrary to today’s gastronomic trends, the restaurant’s menu is exceptionally broad. With this, Nuotta wants to ensure that there is something for everyone, and that there is no need to change lunch and dinner restaurants even during a longer visit to Imatra. Suota’s specialties are soft blinis with a variety of fillings, fresh fish from Saimaa, and products from the restaurant’s own smokehouse. Of course, there is also a selection of meaty-tasting quality burgers, pelmeni, and cold-smoked reindeer-stuffed leaf steaks to beef tenderloin delicacies that can be cooked sous vide – and on BBQ nights, beef entrecôte, pork ribs and other delicacies are sizzling on the open fire grill! Nuotta has also by no means forgotten the lovers of trendy vegan food, and the restaurant has also carefully prepared the children’s menu to suit different tastes.

Events

At Restaurant Nuota, you can also spend Relaxed and festive family, bachelor, family and company parties. For parties of more than 8 people, Nuotta recommends ordering food in advance to ensure a smooth service.

The story of an entrepreneur

Timo Mankki, the founder of Ravintola Nuota, is a member of the famous Chaîne des Rôtisseurs organization and a professional Cheff Rôtisseur.

Ravintola & Savustamo Nuota’s “starting shot” was the brainchild of Timo Manki, a hobby chef with a large family who had a career in the forest industry in his forties, from the spring of 2009. At that time, this ex-engineer rented a ticket kiosk that had once been abandoned by a steamship company along his outdoor route from the passenger port of Imatra – and even for restaurant use. For many, the idea was made even more strange by the fact that the host chose blinis and pelmeni as the opening genre of his summer restaurant – obviously because he liked blinis and pelmeni a lot, and because he thought he was particularly clever at making them – and definitely because these were only available in spring and winter , when they were winter food. People laughed at the choice of location and concept, but the best part was that they ate Nuota’s summer blinis and pelmeni during their vacation, and that’s how the story of Imatra’s first Saimaa beach restaurant began.

Karina Mankki, Timo’s wife, who currently works as a co-entrepreneur, watched the host’s first years of school from the sidelines, concentrating hard on her own white-collar work in the city of Imatra. After realizing that he was about to spend his summer vacation in Nuota’s kitchen with a tasty food salary, he also left his permanent job. However, having less of a passion for cooking, Karina supplemented her community pedagogue degree with á la carte chef studies in Savonlinna during the winters.

Already from 2013, live evenings were added to the service concept, which grew in popularity year by year to such an extent that eventually the entire harbor area in front of the restaurant had to be harnessed as Nuota’s event and drinking area. Taking into account the customer seats of Bikini Bay Imatra, which is part of the same restaurant complex, Ravintola Nuotta grew in just over ten years from an abandoned ticket kiosk to a food and event restaurant with a thousand customers. On event nights, the “Nuotta family” is typically a group of about 15 people at a time.

As the operation grew, alongside the summer “Nuotta Imatra”, the year-round service “Nuotta Lappeenranta” opened in the city center’s restaurant cluster, as well as Bistro & Cafe Veera, which is a year-round combination of harbor cafe, gelateria and bistro.

Come relax and enjoy. The Nuotta family serves in Lappeenranta and Imatra!
