The road is good, but a bit winding and the journey to breakfast turns from the main road down the dirt road into the valley to the La Fuente Oase Bed & Breakfast hotel. La Fuente Oase Bed&Breakfast breakfast buffet The day starts with a hearty breakfast, which is served every day in the lovely garden.
The comprehensive breakfast buffet includes yogurt, fresh fruit, various cheeses and cold meats, as well as fresh bread, croissants and rolls from the local bakery. Drinks include fresh juice, coffee and tea. Often there are also home-baked buns. La Fuente Oase Bed&Breakfast offers accommodation options for every taste. Glamping customers have their own showers in the courtyard area, and the hotel’s wonderful swimming pool with bars offers refreshment for the day. Read more about the hotel here.
Barranco Blanco waterfall
After breakfast, you can choose whether you want to go on an adventure to the waterfalls from the hotel along the river (about 1 hour) on foot, or drive to the falls by car. Known for its crystal clear water, Alaminos River is located between Alhaur el Grande and Coin. Otters and carp-like fish (Barbell) thrive in the river, and deer can also be found on the mountain slopes.
The lovely quiet valley is surrounded by majestic mountains and lush vegetation. When going on a trip, it is good to prepare good shoes, spare clothes and a water bottle. You can follow the river along the rocks, but you often have to wade in shallow water and find your way through the vegetation. In winter, there can be more water, but not so much that it prevents hiking. You can easily get back to the hotel by walking along the road. Climbing up from the Barranco Blanco waterfalls to the road is done with a rope, so a reasonably good fitness level is recommended. It’s always good to go on a trip together, at least as a couple.
La Pueblo Mijas – the white village
From La Fuente Oase Hotel Barranco Blanco, the journey continues along the winding road to the village of La Pueblo Mijas, known for its lovely white buildings and unique atmosphere with views over the sunny beach of the Costa del Sol. The historic La Pueblo Mijas, located high on the mountainside, is 430 m above sea level and offers wonderful views of Fuengirola and the Costa De Sol coast, which can be admired from the observation deck in the village. Among several churches, the Ermita de la Virgen de la Peńa chapel, which is built into the rock, stands out. What is unique about Mijas Pueblo is the so-called donkey taxis, with which the journey takes a leisurely turn while enjoying the wonderful scenery.
