Lahti Info

Lahti will be the European Capital of the Environment in 2021.

Lahti is the regional center of Päijät-Häme, just 100 kilometers north of Helsinki on the southern shore of Lake Vesijärvi. It is the youngest of Finland’s so-called old cities; it became an independent city in 1905.
Lahti offers many great outdoor and recreational opportunities in the landscapes of Salpausselä and Vesijärvi. For culture-hungry, Lahti offers something to experience with museums, theaters and concerts.

Attractions

Sibelius house in Lahti harbor

Lahti Sibelius Hall is an event house with a unique concert and meeting framework, which offers diverse services to both consumer customers and companies. The building, completed in 2000 in connection with an old factory building, thus combines wooden architecture with old Lahti industrial history. A unique dialogue has emerged from the combination of new and old construction and the view of Vesijärvi from the building.

Ski Museum
The museum is located next to the Salpausselkä ski jumps in Lahti Sports Center. The museum consists of various exhibitions, which can currently be visited independently (guided tours are not organized due to the current situation).

Lahti Radio and TV Museum Mastola
The museum is located on Radiomäki at the foot of radio masts. The museum’s exhibitions tell the history of Finnish radio and television in a way that is immersive. Guided tours are not currently available.

Lapakisto
Relevant nature reserve in the Nastola area. The popular hiking destination has five off-road hiking trails with a total distance of 23 kilometers. Along the routes there are sheds and campfire sites, an accessibility path on the shore of Lapakistolampi and a barbecue area.

Finnish Motorcycle Museum
Finland’s only motorcycle museum contains more than 100 motorcycles and related historical props. In connection with the museum, there is the Ace Cafe café-restaurant.
