Restaurant Osteria Locale is located right in the center of Loviisa, next to the market. Inside you can hear the rustle of history, in the corner stands a wonderful, red old-time meat grinder, which still works if necessary. Pia runs her restaurants together with her wonderful staff, and if someone gets tired, the others cheer up.
Everything is always saved in the end by a glass of selected wine and good food. A moment together.
Restaurant Locale has selected the list of delicacies with local entrepreneurs in mind. Fish is obtained from the market and Söderby Lax, meat from nearby suppliers and local grocers. Osteria is an Italian common space located in a village, where in the old days people gathered to spend evenings together, and during the day, to exchange stories. At first, only alcohol was served in the osteria and you brought your own snacks. Later, simple and inexpensive local delicacies also started to be prepared in them. Our own Osteria, the restaurant Locale describes community and locality, the living room of Lovisa residents next to the market, where it is natural to come with friends or family, and even casual visitors never feel lonely there. “Returning to grandfather’s landscapes brings water to the tongue. A small town delicacy as a little girl and even as a teenager, was the unforgettable Corinth donut filled with whipped cream. It was always sought after as a dessert or just secretly before food with food, always. However, the best thing about being in Loviisa was when we went through the side door of Aleksenteri’s yard to a restaurant that had leaf steak on the menu. I ordered the same portion every time. Me and the side doors, peeking into the kitchen and BackStage of the restaurant world. It was the best I could think of. Vaari never faltered when it came to feasting and having fun. The same problem with us, there is always room at the table and the food never runs out. Shared meals are the ones where we exchange stories and, like a candle, are measured by who tells the best stories. We still pass through the side door and now this feels just as great as it did back then with the shield. Restaurant Penny and Osteria Locale, and Korean BBQ Moloko. All of this has come about because food unites us all,” acknowledges Pia Olanterä.
