Savonlinna is located in Eastern Finland in the province of Southern Savonia in the lap of Lake Saimaa. It was founded in 1639 by Peter Brahe.
Its sights and breathtakingly beautiful Natural Landscapes leave no one cold. Savonlinna is especially known for Olavinlinna, where the Savonlinna Opera Festival is held.

Olavinlinna
Olavinlinna is familiar to everyone as the main stage of the Savonlinna Opera Festival. It is located on a rocky island in Kyrönsalmi, surrounded by water. You can get to know Olavinlinna and its stories with guided tours that start every hour.
Riihisaari – Saimaa Nature and Museum Center
The center has exhibitions of the Savonlinna Provincial Museum and Metsähallitus, as well as information on Saimaa’s cultural history and nature. Thanks to numerous changing exhibitions and various events, there is something to see and do all year round.
Riihisaari’s exhibitions and tourist and camping information operate in temporary premises on Nälkälinnanmäki, at Tottinkatu 6a!
Wanha Savonlinna
At the foot of Olavinlinna is Wanha Savonlinna with its wooden houses and park streets. Tourists can experience the history of Savonlinna on Linnakatu. The wooden houses on the street have several food restaurants, galleries and craft shops.
