Koli and the nature center Ukko
Koli is the highest danger in North Karelia on the shores of Lake Pielinen in Koli National Park. Koli is a key national landscape and one of the most famous landscape attractions. The most famous Lookout is Ukko-Koli, close to Break Sokos Hotel Koli and Koli Nature Center.
Koli Nature Center Ukko presents Finland’s most famous national landscape as well as the dangerous nature and traditional environments of Eastern Finland.
Patvinsuo National Park
Patvinsuo National Park is one of Finland’s national parks, where you can experience a real wilderness. Patvinsuo National Park, located north of Satasaarinen Koitere, on the border of Ilomantsi and Lieksa, is a meeting place for the northern and southern features of nature. The national park has routes for both long hikes and short day trips.
Finland’s second largest open-air museum, with 70 buildings telling the history of the Karelian region. The main building of the museum is open all year round and in addition to the comprehensive main exhibition, there are changing exhibitions.
The Rukajärvi Center operates in two locations – Lieksa and Iisalmi. Lieksa’s Rukajärvi Center currently operates at Lieksa Railway Station. The center brings together clean-up items and works of art, video and audio tapes, photographs and information about the soldiers made by veterans on the front.
Ukonsärkkä is a small destination suitable for day trips right on the eastern border. The peace of nature is still guaranteed in Ukonsärkkä, although other people may meet in the shed of Ukonlampi. A short Ukonpolku takes you through the area, presenting pretty ridge landscapes with views of ponds and bogs.
