Imatra is located in the province of South Karelia. Imatra is best known for Imatrankoski and Vuoksi, which flows through the city.

Imatrankoski
The rapids are not only the most famous attraction in Imatra but also the oldest tourist attraction in Finland; foreigners went to admire it as early as the 18th century!
Today, you can admire the turmoil in separately organized rapids shows.
Imatra Kruununpuisto Park
Finland’s first nature reserve was established on the shores of Imatrankoski with the signature of Russian Tsar Nikolai I. In Kruununpuisto, there is a wide range of things to see from the rare river sand dunes and the autographs carved into the rock by famous Imatra visitors at different times to the summer theater and the Imatrankoski hydropower plant.
Imatra Veterans and Lottery Museum
The museum has artefacts that include a wealth of history and war memories from the period of Finnish autonomy and the beginning of our independence, the Civil War and the Winter and Continuation Wars.
The museum is located in the neoclassical Piponius House built in Imatra in 1925, opposite the State Hotel, near Imatrankoski.
Lammassaari nature trail
The nature trail starts at the end of the embankment island leading to Lammassaari. The trail route goes through the southern parts of the island to the West Bank (hut) and returns from there through the inner parts to the starting point. The length of the trail is 3.7 kilometers. There are 31 checkpoints along it.
