All about Koli
Koli is the highest forested hill in North Karelia on the shores of Lake Pielinen in Lieksa. The Koli is mainly white quartzite and has large woodless, bare white rock surfaces at the top. The most important peaks of Koli are Ukko- and Akkakoli and Paha-Koli, which has a steep wall. The highest point of Koli is at Ukkokolilla 347m above sea level. There are more than 1,400 islands in Lake Pielinen, which is about 100 km long and about 30 km wide.
